A Thankful Heart~November 26

November 26, 2013~Thankful for Tim's Parents

Today, across MSN.com, I saw an article that was titled something like, "How to put up with your in-laws this holiday." I read it a few times because I kept thinking that certainly I was reading incorrectly. When I realized that I had indeed read it correctly, I had to stop and think, "Wow, I am so lucky, I love my in-laws!" God has blessed me with a great new family, and I am so thankful for them.

You hear the stories about the Mother-in-law, and I can honestly say, that my MIL is a sweetheart! She is very thoughtful and is always showing us love. Some people might be depressed to live only 15-20 minutes from their in-laws, but I'm glad we are so close. We don't see them as much as we'd like, but they are not far away at all.

I am thankful for how they have welcomed me into their home and lives. I always feel welcome at their house. Of course, I am DIL #4, so I guess they've had good practice at accepting girls into their all-sons family. :) lol Tim and I were both blessed to grow up in homes with both parents who have been faithfully married for many years. They are both great examples to us of honoring the promise they made to each other before God.

Not knowing what to expect as a first-time DIL, it's a little scary, but I'm thankful for my wonderful Mom and Dad who have welcomed me into their family! Love them! Unlike today's article, I don't dread spending Thanksgiving with Tim's parents, and I'm very thankful for that!

Have you been blessed with wonderful in-laws? Wanna tell us about them? :)

A Thankful Heart~November 25

November 25, 2013~Thankful for My Momma

A visit to Pensacola when I was in college. Fun girls weekend!

College Graduation

A sophisticated evening out~just the girls!

Coffee is a definitely a love we share!

I am so thankful for my Momma...I could write a book about it, but I'll spare you :) There are so many reasons why I'm thankful for her~she is a great example of a wife and mom and Christian, she loves me and Tim, she is a servant, and she's always been one of my biggest fans in every area of my life. She has always made her family the most important people in her life, and there's no doubt we feel that love.

My Momma has always taken care of everyone around her. She willingly gives of her time to her family and friends. She's a faithful servant at church, and has served in the nursery, a typically overlooked ministry, for years and years. She loves people, especially her little students. She has a hard time saying, "No." because she loves to help others. One of the things I am most thankful for, and that I often take for granted, is her availability to me. She is never too busy to talk to me. NEVER. I am thankful that she is always there for me with an encouraging word and Godly advice.

I am thankful for the love that she has embraced Tim with. She is thrilled with the man God gave me, and that was a huge checkbox for me when we were dating. She adores him and loves to take care of him too. Sometimes I think she likes him more than she likes me! "Timmy, can I make you coffee?" "Timmy, would you like this special treat that I don't share with anyone?" It's rather ridiculous how someone who isn't related can bump those that are related down the love ladder...haha I'm teasing...I'm thrilled that  she loves him so much! He's my best friend and my incredible gift, I love that she sees that and loves him too.

She has supported me in every aspect of my life. I'm sure she missed a game a time or so, but I truly can't remember her ever not being at my volleyball games...for years and years, she was there, cheering me on. When I went to college, she called me and text me sweet messages. She has consistently prayed for me as I've had interviews and started new jobs, and when I was a server she and Daddy would come in and leave me good tips to show they loved me. She was with me every step of the wedding planning and then the furniture shopping for the new house. She just loves and loves, and I am so thankful that she desires to be so involved in my life.

Did you grow up with an incredible Momma? Why not take a minute to thank God for the blessing of her role in your life? Why not send me a picture of you and your Mom and tell me something that you learned from her? I would love to hear about her! :)

A Thankful Heart~November 21

November 21, 2013~Thankful for the many loving people in our life.

I have a wedding slideshow on my second desktop at work, yes, I know, "we are young and silly," but leave me alone, and let me remember that wonderful day. :) As this picture came across this morning, I couldn't help but smile. I love this picture. It is one of my favorite wedding pics because it shows the faces of so many guests. Most of our wedding pics are of me and Tim, our immediate family, or our wedding party, but this picture is everyone. I love it. Our wedding guests were what made the day so special, and I love this picture to forever remember those that were there.

(Btw, WalkRight, this pic is also proof that you did make it! I see you in the balcony :) lol!)

I also enjoy in the DVD, there was a camera guy behind us who randomly scanned the crowd. That's really special too, especially since I didn't have the opportunity to look out and take all of that in. There will never be a time, ever again, where this group of people that Tim and I know and love, will be together. This was a really special moment. I am so thankful for the incredible friends and family God has put in our life, and I'm thankful that they chose to celebrate with us on our special day.

Life is all about people. It really doesn't matter what we have when it comes to stuff, money, etc. What matters is when you have something special happen in your life, that there are people in your life to be there and celebrate with you. We had hundreds of people that shared our special day, and many told us "thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day," but Tim and I are the ones the are truly blessed that each person cared enough to be there to support us.

Every time I look at this picture I want to be reminded that we are surrounded with the most incredible friends and family, and thank God for directing each one of our paths. What is the focus of your life? Is it stuff...money, houses, cars....or is it people? Because in the end, all that matters is our loved ones.

A Thankful Heart~November 20

November 20, 2013~Thankful for kindness

Today I am thankful for "little acts of kindness" that have been shown to me the past few days. It is encouraging when you are having a rough day, or even just a long, tiring day, for someone to say a kind word or do something thoughtful. A "thank you" is a kind word that is often overlooked in our entitlement age.

For example: There is an acquaintance of my parents who has gone out of his way the last few days to advise Tim and I (wanted advice lol) on a big decision. I hardly know the guy, probably couldn't pick him out in a crowd, but he has been very gracious with his time and wisdom. And if you ask him, he'll tell you it's all God working through him.

I am thankful for the love and kindness of my friends and family. It inspires me to want to share kindness with others. A kind deed just makes your heart happy and warm~I like that feeling, and I want to work on sharing that feeling more with those I love.

We don't know what's going on in someone else's head, a kind word, or a hug could make such a huge impact on someone's day. We need to stop racing around and take a few minutes to just be kind and love on someone else. Both the giver and receiver will be so blessed.

What kindness has been shown to you today? What kindness can you show to others?

A Thankful Heart~November 19

November 19, 2013~Thankful for friends we meet in ministry.

I would like you to meet John and Jane Woitas. They are hard-core OCC lovers. I met them 5 years ago when I took my first shoe box to their church to drop off. We really hit it off and I look forward to seeing them each year. We drove past several drop off locations so that e could go to their church and see them. I couldn't wait for them to meet Tim! Jane was so excited to meet him, she told me that since she met me, she had been praying for the man God would bring into my life. :) It was such a wonderful night. We were able to drop off 23 shoe boxes, and reconnect with John and Jane.

Jane has such a heart for the shoebox project, and I love listening to her share about "The Greatest Journey" and the incredible, only-God, stories that come back from the shoebox delivery trips. I have to share with you the one she shared with us....she heard the story at the big OCC conference, directly from the man who saw the miracle.

The man said that he was handing out boxes in a village and he handed a little boy a box. The little boy took it and with a big smile opened the box...the the man's dismay, on the top of the little boy's box, were 2 oven mitts. The man says that he thought to himself, "WHY? Why would you put that in a child's box?!" and he began to think about how he could replace the "bad" gift. The little boy started jumping up and down and crying. The worker said he felt so bad, and was trying to figure out what to do. But then he realized that the little boy was happy! What?! The little boy rolled up his sleeve and showed severe burn marks from putting something in and out of an oven. Come to find out, the boy's father was the village baker, and the little boy often burned his wrists and arms when trying to help.
Does that give you chills? I got chills writing it. GOD KNEW exactly what box that little boy needed. That gift changed his life. If that doesn't inspire you to pack a shoebox, I don't know what will! lol Praise God for knowing and caring about each and every person! What an incredible God we serve!

It never ceases to amaze me how knowing Jesus just binds complete strangers heart's together. The love of God is such a powerful thing. I am so thankful for the sweet friends I have made through different ministries in different states. It's a blessing to serve together and love Christ.

What special friendship has God gifted you with through serving in a ministry? I'd love to hear about His interest in your life!

Here are some pics of our shoebox adventure 2013:

Empty boxes waiting to be filled with love!

Dividing out the toys by gender so that we could pack the boxes.

A Thankful Heart~November 18

November 18, 2013~Thankful for God's blessings

When was the last time you stopped...really stopped...and just thanked God for your blessings? We have no problem sharing our problems and complaints with Him, yet we conveniently forget to communicate thanks for the many good things we get but don't deserve. I take so much for granted....the simple little things that make life just a little bit more fun or enjoyable. Here are a few that I've been thinking of lately:

1. White chocolate mocha creamer...some days it really is my motivation to get up lol
2. Colored pens and sharpies! Such a silly thing, but brightening up my calendar or notes really does make me smile.
3. An email from my man in the middle of a day to just say he loves me.
4. Cozy blankets all around our living room. So many people all around the world would probably kill for a blanket as cozy and warm as the ones I have.
5. Electricity....we don't have to stop life at dusk (which is good because I'm still at work when it's getting dark now and I couldn't see to get home!)
6. Plush towels to wrap up in after a HOT shower or bath. How often do we take that hot water for granted?!
7. Pictures. I have pictures all over our house and my office. I love being surrounded by those I love and all those happy memories.
8. My Keurig...how life-changing was this invention! Love it!
9. Seasonal decorations. There are people on the other side of the world living in grass huts with dirt floors, and they have to worry about people robbing them, animals getting them, or bad weather flattening their home. I have to worry about where to put our Christmas tree and all our decorations in our "small" townhouse.
10. My KitchenAid....o my soul....love using this thing!
11. A pantry full of food...a freezer full of food....cupboards full of pretty dishes and bowls to put that food in.
12. Access to all the books my heart desires. I have so many books I haven't even read yet from when I worked at family.
13. Candles~they add so much to the atmosphere of a home!
14. Feather-top mattress covers~ah-maze-ing!
15. Soft carpet under our feet at home. Shoes for when we go outside.
16. Hot rollers...what a time saver!
17. Facebook. Though it can be a tool for negative, it can also be an amazing way to keep in touch with friends from the past who are now all over the world!
18. Christian radio
19. Christmas movies that are already playing~yeah!
20. Cold drinks in the fridge. This is a luxury we can't even begin to imagine living without, yet millions around the world don't have this luxury.

The list could  go on and on...to us, blessed Americans, these things are simple every day things that we rarely stop and truly thank God for. I'm sure you've seen the quote before, but I love and am challenged by the truth that goes something like this: "If you only had tomorrow what you thanked God for today, what would you have?" I have to be honest and say that if this was to come true in my life, there are many days where I wouldn't wake up with much because I thanked God for very little the day before. How sad.

How would you feel if you constantly gave of yourself in little ways to someone you cared about....your husband, your friend, your coworker....every day you left a note for your husband, did little things to show you care, cooked and cleaned, and tried to show respect and love for his decisions, and yet he never thanked you or even seemed to notice, and more than that, he actually whined about you all the time. How would that make you feel? Pretty lousy, right? I can't imagine if Tim did that. I'd be a mess, yet we do this daily to our Heavenly Father who loves us more than we can comprehend and is constantly showering us with gifts and blessings. And what do we do? Turn around and complain. :/

We live in a very selfish world that's all about how "I" feel, and how can "I" be happier. Why not take a few minutes to just thank God for the little things that he is constantly filling our lives with? I challenge you to sit down and make a list of 20 things you are thankful for....I just did that in a matter of minutes above....and then just stop and thank God for each and every one of those things.

Does it sound crazy to thank God for white chocolate mocha creamer? Sorta, but I rarely pull it out of the fridge without saying, at least to myself, "Thank you, Jesus. You know I really enjoy this silly stuff." I remember a time, not that long ago, when money was tighter. I lived on my own and white chocolate mocha creamer would not have been an option because it was an unnecessary and expensive luxury. Now, I can afford whatever creamer I want, but I don't want to forget that I didn't always have this luxury and I may not always have it; it's a blessing from God.

What "silly" things can you thank God for? I bet ya He'd love to hear about it, not matter how silly you think it is! Let's strive to find the "little" blessings in our lives today!

A Thankful Heart~November 16-17

November 16-17, 2013~Thankful for kids

Yesterday and today (crazy weekend) I am thankful for the kids in our life. God has blessed us with a small group through Awana that we have really grown to love! They make me laugh and the next time make me crazy! lol This year we are trying to be more active in our kids lives. Above are two pics of some of our activities.

The one with the boxes are the 23 boxes we collected for Operation Christmas Child. These boxes will be send to children all over the world. Inside each box, the organization will include the gospel in the appropriate language~how awesome is that! We prayed over the boxes asking God to put our boxes into the hands of the specific child that needed or wanted the gifts inside.

The second pic is a group that we took leaf raking. We did 4 yards in about 3 hours, which included a stop for pizza. The kids worked so hard and had such great attitudes. They had a great time and it really encouraged my heart.

Today I was sitting at our Thanksgiving luncheon with two of our older Awana girls. We had a great time just chatting and enjoying the time. They make me laugh! As I sat at lunch and thought about what I was thankful for, I couldn't help but think of those two girls beside me, and this was just a continuation of my feelings from yesterday as we spent time with the kids raking leaves.

I grew up in a home with both of my parents who loved me and sacrificed to give me an incredible life, so working with some of these kiddos that come from broken, or less-than-ideal, homes has really been eye-opening to me. It has helped me appreciate the wonderful life I have, want to help and love on these kids, and try to do anything I can to show them God's love.

To be honest, sometimes it's a lot of work to plan activities, be there every Wednesday on time, and keep things organized, but it has been a really special gift to us. I love those little kiddos. I think if you asked the other workers, they would agree with me, that we are blessed to have those little kiddos in our lives.

Are you trying to make a God-difference in a young person's life? Who's life is God asking you to take some time and be a part of? Why not pray and ask God to use you to show His love to a "little one."

A Thankful Heart~November 15

November 15, 2013~Thankful for FREE coffee!

Oh my soul am I excited! A few minutes from now you will find me standing in line at Starbucks enjoying their BOGO sale! What a fun treat! I will be the first to admit that Starbucks is ridiculously overpriced, but 1/2 off? I think I can handle that! I am very thankful for yummy treats like Starbucks and also for God's provision to be able to afford a $5 cup of coffee!

Why not make someone's day by gifting them with a free holiday drink? Maybe you have a friend who's laid off, or an elderly lady who would love a coffee in a cute holiday cup...you get two, why not give one away! :) Why not share this treat with someone and show them you love them!

Now....off to my peppermint mocha!

A Thankful Heart~November 14

November 14, 2013~Thankful for laughter

Today I had two different moments where I just laughed and laughed...one moment was at worship practice when we were trying to practice a song. It was just the 4 girls for this song, and we couldn't seem to get the whole way through the song...someone would sing something crazy, way off timing, "wrong" words because no one had their glasses...it was so simple...and so silly, and we had such a good time.

The second moment was as we pulled in the driveway...Timmy said something totally ridiculous and he cracked himself up...he deep-belly laughed and laughed...which of course made me laugh. lol I am so thankful for laughter. It really is "the best medicine." :) Isn't it true that we like to be around those that make us feel good (smile and laugh)? I'm thankful for the many nights that Tim and I lay in bed and say the silliest things and just laugh and laugh...those are such special moments. I'm so thankful for them!

Have you had a good laugh today? :D

November 13, 2013~Technology and cell phones

Thankful for your cell phone? Really? YES! Can you imagine life without a cell? I know if you are over 30 you probably can, lol, but I can't. I am thankful that I am able to keep in contact with friends and family all over the country. I am thankful that I can talk to my mom the whole way home from work while I'm sitting in traffic~it's amazing. We take silly things like this for granted, but I am thankful that technology allows me to keep in better contact with those I love.

What's your favorite phone use? Txting? Calling? Emailing those you love? :)

A Thankful Heart~November 12

November 12, 2013~Thankful for my remote starter!

Wow. This morning I was soooo thankful for my remote starter. We got our first snowfall and while it is absolutely beautiful, I like to look at it from inside a warm car. :) I absolutely don't get the technology behind the remote starter; I'm just glad it works! So thankful for God's provision and allowing us to have silly comforts like going out to a warm, defrosted car!

Why not find something "small" and remember that God has given you even the smallest of blessings. :)

A Thankful Heart~November 11

November 11, 2013~Thankful for our freedoms

Saw this post today and had to stop and say, "Wow." I am so thankful for the freedoms we experience here in America. But in addition to that, I am thankful for the freedom and liberty that is found in Christ's death and resurrection! "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone! Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives."

A special thank you to all of those that have served our country~thank you for risking your life for me! I can't imagine what you went through. Thank you for your brave service!

Did you thank a veteran today? You live in freedom because of other's sacrifices. Happy Veteran's Day 2o13!

A Thankful Heart~November 10

November 10, 2013~Thankful for my family

My family that was able to be at the wedding.

I'm so thankful for my family. I love each and every one of them so much. While I do have several "crazy uncles," I am very thankful that we truly don't have "that" family member. lol Today we celebrated my brother's birthday and just had a family Sunday dinner. I love being around them and I am so thankful for their love. I am also thankful for their godly influence in our life. We are so blessed with the incredible family God has given us.

I don't get to see my family in Indiana that much, and I wish we got to see them more, but I'm thankful for each and every one of my dad's 8 siblings and their families. I am thankful for Facebook because it helps me keep up with them a little bit! Wish we could see everyone more.

My Uncle Todd and Aunt Jodi are missionaries to the Arctic, and that's been really hard to have them so far away. This Christmas is going to be missing a very special piece with them so far away, and there kid's in Wyoming. While it is sad that they are so far away, I am thankful that I miss them because that sadness demonstrates how much I love them!

I am so thankful for my family (and Tim's but I'll share that another day :)!). We are so blessed to have so much love poured out on us by our family! I am so thrilled that Christmas is so close because it is my favorite time of the year~I love all the family time we get! Yeah for making memories with family!

Do you love your family more than words can express? Why not call one of them up and tell them! You'll both be blessed!

A Thankful Heart~November 9

November 9, 2013~Thankful for Godly Examples

Examples of Godly behavior are sometimes hard to find. There are a lot of hypocrites out there, so finding someone who truly lives Christ like is a valuable gift. Add in the criteria of them being at least a bit older and wiser than you, and you're really asking a lot! :) We have been so blessed in our lives to have quite a few Godly couples, some much older than us, some only a few years older, that have graciously shared truth about life with us.

Tonight we enjoyed spending time fellowshipping with a couple that have been married for almost twice my age! What a blessing to learn from them. One of the biggest influences in my life is my family, my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins. In the pic above is my Uncle Brett and Aunt Jess. They are truly incredible examples to us of Godly partners and parents. I have been so blessed to be able to glean from them over the last few years. I appreciate the transparency that they have shown me in both the good and the bad times. A big part of being a successful example is admitting when you are wrong or when you could've done something a little better. If all you ever share are success stories, you aren't actually investing all that God has given you.

A lot of people like to "make their own mistakes" and "live and learn," but I pray that we never take these wise examples for granted. I pray that we learn from their mistakes and don't have to repeat them! So thankful for the wonderful people in our lives. We are blessed!

Are you young and foolish like I so often am? Maybe you need to take a second and look around for some Godly examples, and when you find them, stick to them like glue and learn all you can! And if you're "not young" (lol) maybe you need to take a second and evaluate whether you are helping or hindering the younger generations. If you have someone who has positively influenced your life, why not tell them? :)

November 8, 2013~TGIF

It's Friday. How can you not smile when you read that? :) I'm thankful for Fridays and the excitement that the weekend brings. Friday means that I'm about to spend a lot of time with my best friend. We can just enjoy each other and not worry about how late it is or how much work we have to do tomorrow. I'm also thankful for Fridays because they include jeans and yoga and occasionally working from home~right on! :) "TGIF" is just a phrase to most people, but I am truly thankful to my Heavenly Father that He got me through another week and that He has allowed us some rest on the weekend. Isn't He good?

What big plans do you have following 5pm today?

A Thankful Heart~November 7

November 7, 2013~thankful for music and worship

Do you enjoy worshiping God? Do you enjoy singing praise to Him? I love how God uses music to speak to our soul. I can be all uptight and freaking out because the "house is a mess" and we had to rush out the door to a ministry and so we scarfed down dinner, now it's 10pm and I'm irritated. I have a Pandora station called "Instrumental Praise," and it is amazing how those instrumental songs of worship can calm my soul. As I sing the words in my head, I am reminded of His promises.

In the last year or so, more than ever before, I have enjoyed "car worship." What is car worship you ask? Well, car worship is when I am driving down the road, singing loudly, usually crying, and just connecting with God in worship. It is hard for me to worship in this same way anywhere else, at church, at home, etc., but God has given me so many "hugs" as I'm driving down the road.

Tim and I are on the worship team at church and it is set up in a way that I can basically sing whatever I want when it comes to harmony. I enjoy the challenge of finding the part and working it around the other harmonist. (I think I just made up that word lol) I enjoy looking out on Sunday morning and seeing people sing their hearts out to God. Like we see all through Psalms, music is powerful, and it brings great joy to the heart of God when we sing praise to Him.

Whether you think you can sing or not, God asks you to worship Him. Maybe that worship should be reserved for when you are alone with Him, lol. Sing your heart our as you drive down the road, while you are in the shower, or while you are running the sweeper (I think singing while sweeping makes anyone sound good! lol).

Do you need to get in the habit of worshiping our incredible creator? It's a small, inadequate gift that we can offer Him, but it's something that He desires!

A Thankful Heart~November 6

November 6, 2013~Thankful for my car (Priscilla)

This is Priscilla....many many miles ago...lol I've put about 100,000 on her just since I've had her. The last two months have been rough. We've had repeated car problems....and we've put A LOT of money into this car in the past two months, but I can't complain. Tim's car (Philippe) and Priscilla have been pretty reliable. God has blessed us by giving us two vehicles AND a mechanic Daddy who takes good care of us.

I was having a discussion tonight with a friend who's car has been in the garage and she's been carless for awhile....I'd be whining a lot if I was her, but she was so patient about the situation. I was thinking about this on the way home and thinking about how ungrateful I am for my vehicle, and how I've whined about the money the last few months. Yeah, she's eaten up a lot of money in the past few weeks, but we were only ever without here for a day or so, and my Daddy and boss were really workable and helpful with the situation.

I rarely think about being thankful for my car, but I am. I'm thankful that it has heat and a/c...a sun roof to enjoy the day, a big trunk, it's a cute color...and it runs! haha

Thank you, Jesus, for giving us two reliable vehicles. Help us to use them for your service!

A Thankful Heart~November 5

November 5, 2013~Thankful for my job and coworkers

I am so thankful for the job God has provided. Everything about it is so amazing! I love my coworkers. It's a small group, but a wonderful group. Every day is different and that makes it exciting. I feel like there is a purpose in what I do (helping couples have children). As you might have read in a previous post, I didn't want to take this job because I loved my old job so much, but everything has gone so well and I am so thankful for that.

Enjoying your coworkers is a big deal...I've had jobs with "that woman" and it was miserable. I am thankful for a group of coworkers that I truly like seeing every day.

Do you enjoy your coworkers? Why not tell them this holiday season? Let's look for little ways to encourage them this week, how about that? :)

A Thankful Heart~November 4

November 4, 2013~Thankful for Faithful Love

I'm not sure if this will makes sense to anyone else, and it's hard for me to explain, but being married has really shown me the true, faithful love of our heavenly Father. Tim is constantly forgiving me and loving me, in spite of me, he is such a good picture of God's unfailing love. I have always known that God loved me, no matter what. I knew that He chose to love me, but I don't think I fully understood what that meant before marriage.

Marriage has given me a tangible example of God's love. Tim's love is patient, kind, not easily provoked (although I'm sure I'm a challenge)....never fails. I guess you expect that out of God and your parents and family, they kinda have to love you, but someone who owes you absolutely nothing (Tim) is really eye opening. Now, I'm not saying that I'm not soooo thankful for the love of my parents, they put up with soooo much(!), but this is a different love~there's no obligation or "connection" whatsoever.

Like never before, I realize every day how unlovable I am. I can be so cranky and unkind, and Tim just loves on me anyway...it's almost too good to be true, type thing. Yes, this is true about God's love for us, but since we can't see Him, I think we forget that we are disgustingly unlovable. I know that Tim is able to demonstrate this love for me, because God has his heart. He has allowed God's love to flow through him and envelope me, and it's amazing. The more I realize I am unworthy of Tim's love, and how grateful I am for it, the more keenly aware I am of how short I fall to deserve our holy God's love. It far surpasses any human love. Does it amaze anyone else that God loves us? I mean, I can't even explain how earth-shattering that truth is; I can't explain what that realization does to my heart!

No matter what you or I have done, He loves us~perfect, unfailing, undeserved love. What a precious gift from our Father! Maybe, like myself, you need to take a minute today and just dwell on the faithful love of God. You don't deserve His love. I know I don't deserve it, but He gives it...freely...without strings attached. Why not take a few minutes today to thank Him for His incredible love?

A Thankful Heart~November 3

November 3, 2013~Thankful for ministry

It was a busy day of ministries! And while I was tired after it all, I couldn't help but smile. :) Tim and I have the opportunity to be involved in a lot of different ministries at church--Awana, Worship team, Nursing homes, etc. I know that we are supposed to do these services to help others, but I feel like I am always the one that comes out with the blessing.

Today started out with some sleepy worship practice...I was struggling to stay awake, much less sing with enthusiasm. lol After worship in the main service I was in the nursery. Those kids make me laugh! It's a nice kid-fix while Tim and I don't have any kiddos. I get to play and spend time with them, and then send them home with their parents! haha Made a new little friend today and that was fun. :) Following church, and a quick bite to eat, we took an elderly lady in our church to a nursing home ministry. She absolutely loves going. She cannot drive and she truly appreciates the opportunity to serve once a month at this home. I don't even really do anything at the nursing home, just sing along with some songs, but our real ministry is taking the lady. She speaks and sings and just ministers away! And then there's the monthly trip to the grocery store afterwards...it makes for a very long Sunday, but I get such a warm feeling inside afterwards.

Then there's Awana. Wow. Do those kids have a special place in our hearts. :) I am so thankful for the workers that join us every Wednesday night. They truly have a heart for those kids, and it's a privilege to minister with them. It is an extra special blessing to participate in this ministry with Timmy. I'm really thankful that God has given me a husband with a heart for ministry; it's such a blessing!

In what ministry do you serve? Is God asking you to do something else? Is there a need around you that you can fill?
