Check out this yummy festive treat from the Pioneer Women (Yes, my goal is to be 1/2 the cook and baker she is~she's inspirational!) Definitely going to try this for my sweetie :)

A Shared Thought

Every so often I am going to share with you a blog or devotion that I have read that really spoke to me or taught me something... This one is about a mom's reaction to her child, but I could so easily see it in my reactions to Tim. I'm a control-freak, no doubt about that!, and it's so easy to "correct" something he is doing simply because I would do it differently. How horrible is that?! :( Especially when he is doing something to help me! This was a very convicting message for me because, as a control freak, I tend to think my well thought out way must be the best, after all, didn't I put hours of thought into what he is "thoughtlessly" doing? Instead of praising his efforts or thanking him for being kind enough to help me with whatever task, I pull him down, correct him, or discourage. :/ Not the way a Godly wife acts is it? I really want to work on my reactions toward my family. Do you need to work on yours as well?

Autumn Scents:
2 cups water
3 cinnamon sticks
2 tbsp whole cloves
2 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp ginger
add a few apple or orange slices, they will enhance the scent and be a pretty addition to the pan! Place all in a sauce pan and simmer. Keep an eye on the pan and as the water boils away, add more. Don't let it boil away or you'll have "burned autumn scent" throughout your house, and that's not nearly as pleasant. lol Enjoy the smell of autumn in your home!

Celebrating 1 Year~Engagement Anniversary

September 29, 2012~A day I will never forget. The love of my life got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him. I can't help but smile when I think of that moment! I was totally not expecting it, he very much surprised me!

He picked it out all by himself~amazing, right? :)

I'm very into celebrating special days~they don't have to be over-the-top extravagant, but for me, this was one of the most special days of my entire life, and I want to celebrate/remember that every I planned a surprise picnic back to the spot where it all went down. :) Fresh bread with an herb/olive oil dip, fruits, and veggies from the markets yesterday, peanut butter cookies (Timmy loves peanut butter), a quick pasta salad, candles, and a blanket spread out by the river. (Btw, I have the most incredible picnic blanket from's like a tarp on the bottom and fleece on the top, amazing for wet grass! Only complaint is the size, it's hard for 2 people to share it.)

Grass always looks so straight and even until you try to sit glasses or plates on it. lol

Thank you, 31 blanket, for keeping our butts warm and dry! :)

Last year~2012
Celebrating a wonderful year of memories~2013
(I'm kinda sick so please excuse the glasses and sicky look!)

God has blessed me with the most incredible, Godly man, and I am so thankful! How many of you celebrate "little" anniversaries like this? Do you celebrate your wedding anniversary only on the day or more often? (We do quarters personally...a little bit more manageable than months for us.)

The Strip & a GIANT Rubber Duck

Busy, busy weekend! So I'm lived "in" Pittsburgh my entire life, but had never been to the famous "Strip District." I finally had the opportunity to go yesterday with my previous boss, and it was awesome! I wish I would've taken pics of the crowded, amazing shops, but I was just trying to keep my eyes on Kat (who is thankfully rather tall) and not get trampled. lol If you live near Pittsburgh and have never visited The Strip, you really should! It's a unique and super fun shopping experience! We visited Wholeys (famous fish market), Penzey Spices (oh my!), the cutest little coffee/tea shops, Peace, Love & Little Donuts, lunch at Kaya, was a jam-packed day! haha I bought some spices, freshly baked bread, fresh chicken and steak, a few random kitchen gadgets, and these tea pods that are supposed to open up like a flower when you put them in a cup of hot water....way excited about trying those (I'll let you know how they work!)

Following A LOT of walking...we went to see the new, crazy attraction downtown~a giant rubber duck! The city and park were packed, so we parked several blocks away and was so worth it!

There's just something about rubber ducks that make me smile~they are just so....happy. haha This massive one floating on the river was no exception. It's just a happy sight to see! The duck will be docked by the Point for several weeks, if you live around here, you really should make the effort to go see it! This is the first US appearance of the duck, so it's kinda a big deal. :)

A peek at the crazy large rubber duck!

There were tons of people~it's definitely the thing to see downtown right now!

Yeah, it's massive haha

Now doesn't that make you smile?! :)

Pittsburgh's a pretty awesome place to live! I really want to get more familiar with our awesome city...does anyone have any suggestions of places we should go?

Date Night

So tonight was "Tim's" date night. (It also just so happened to be our 5 month anniversary-yeah) Every month we take turns planning a special date night.  I think it's a lot harder for Tim than it is for me, must be the girl-romantic part of me, but that's what makes his date nights so special! He made reservations at an off the main drag restaurant called the Verona Village Inn. We both really enjoyed our meals and the service was great! Then we rented a redbox (Epic), grabbed some ice cream (mint choco chip), and headed home to cuddle up and watch the movie. What a wonderful way to end a busy week! I <3 date night!

You will see very shortly that we rarely take serious pictures. lol

it usually takes several "bad" shots to get to a good one! :)

Finally! <3

Grab your honey and take him on a date night...make memories!

I love coming up with date nights, do you? What special date nights have you and your hubby shared? I'd love to hear about them!
